Amelia Rising Sexual Violence Support Centre is a nonprofit organization located in North Bay, Ontario, that provides free, confidential, trauma-informed services to individuals aged 12 and over who have experienced sexual or gender-based violence.

  • For men, who may struggle to speak out due to stigma or fear, Amelia Rising offers understanding, validation, and support in a confidential and respectful environment.

Their services are offered through a trauma-informed, anti-oppressive lens, meaning survivors are met with compassion, not judgment—and are always in control of their healing journey.

Amelia Rising offers a range of support options, tailored to each survivor’s unique needs:

  • 24/7 Crisis Line – Immediate emotional support when you need it most
  • One-on-One Counselling – Trauma-informed therapy for individuals
  • Group Counselling Programs – Art Therapy, Healthy Relationship, Rooted….
  • Support Groups – Healing in community with others who understand
  • Advocacy & Accompaniment – Help with navigating medical, legal, and police systems
  • Education & Prevention – School and community workshops on consent, gender-based violence, and healthy relationships

All services are free, confidential, and available in both English and French.


🔗 Connected Support: Partnership with Durham Rape Crisis Centre

Amelia Rising’s 24-hour crisis line is staffed in partnership with a sister centre in Durham Region: the Durham Rape Crisis Centre (DRCC).

This connection ensures:

  • Enhanced availability: Survivors can always reach a trained support worker—even during high call volumes.
  • Consistent care: Both centres follow trauma-informed, survivor-centered approaches rooted in anti-oppression and respect.
  • Shared training and resources: Staff at both centres benefit from collaborative learning and shared expertise.

Together, Amelia Rising and DRCC help ensure no call for help goes unanswered.

Amelia Rising supports individuals 12 years of age and older who live in or around the Nipissing District, including:

  • Timiskaming Shores (ages 12–16)

Self-referrals are welcome, and you do not need a doctor or professional to connect you.
